Facilities

The club has 7 tennis courts and 2 mini tennis courts.

Alone in the area we are therefore able to provide playing facilities for all ages.

All courts are floodlit. Play from 9am to 10pm!!

PAVILION

The club has a pavilion comprising a function room (used for meetings, dances and other social functions, table tennis), a separate bar, a kitchen and two changing rooms (with h&c showers).

CARPARK

The club has a good off-road carpark.

GROUNDS

The club has attractive grass lawns with trees and hedges, allowing off-court relaxation and providing room for the kids to play.

COURTS

The 7 full sized tennis courts have the following surfaces:

  • 4 courts are artificial grass, recently relaid. They consist of a plastic bladed surface, laid on a perforated tarmac base, and filled with sand. They are fast- medium in pace with a slightly low bounce, and are ideally suitable for beginners and juniors. They absorb moisture and you can play immediately after rain. They are very popular with ordinary club players and most of the club’s social play occurs on these courts.
  • 3 courts are plexi-cushion. These were laid in 1990 and since repainted. They are a rubberized-cement type surface similar to those used in the US Open or Australian Open. They are of medium pace with a medium-high bounce, and are a fair examination of quality tennis. They are preferred by the stronger players and are used for most matches. Moisture is not absorbed but can easily be swept off, and typically these courts are re-available for use after rain in 15-20 minutes.

MINI TENNIS

The 2 mini tennis courts are also artificial grass; they are reserved for children and juniors and since their introduction in 1999 have allowed:

  • The standard of child and junior play to improve;
  • The numbers of children and their parents (who may obtain special parent of child membership) to dramatically increase;
  • The club’s inclusive tennis + social atmosphere to grow.
